Three types of admissions are available at Canadian universities and schools. In certain schools, an intake is often referred to as a semester. In Canada, there are three intake options:

A foreign national in Canada on a study visa can bring their spouse and dependent children with them. An open work permit may also be applied for by the partner. They will work for a Canadian employer as long as their partner’s study visa is valid. If the partner wishes to study, however, they must apply for a separate study visa.
Students with study visas are allowed to bring their dependent children to Canada. The children are allowed to remain in Canada for the length of their study visa. Minor children are permitted to continue their education in Canada if one of their parents works or studies there. A dependent child should be less than 22 years old. Dependents are children over the age of 22 who are physically unable to support themselves due to a physical or mental illness.

The client should not have more than 10 backlogs in his/her graduation period.
1. A student must enrol in a course for at least 8 months to be able to return to Canada.
2. A client who enrols in a course for less than 8 months is not eligible to return to Canada and apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
3. To qualify for a post-graduation work permit, a client must complete an 8-month or longer course.
4. If the participant enrols in a course that lasts longer than two years, he or she is eligible for a post-graduation work permit for the same amount of time as the course.
5. For example, an eight-month course equals an eight-month post-graduation work permit.
6. If the client enrols in a two-year course (master’s or diploma), he or she is eligible for a three-year post-graduation work permit.
7. Example: 2 years masters/diploma course = 3 years post-graduation work permit
